Please note, that I haven't gone through and verified all of the links recently. So, some of these may be out of date. I have so many links, I have a hard time keeping up with all of them.
Counter Software
For use on web pages.
This is not an exhaustive list. These are ones which I know work and seem to work fairly well.
You must have the ability to install new CGI scripts on your WWW server to use these. If you don't then you had better use one of the hosted counters. If you don't understand what this stuff means, then I highly recommend using a hosted counter.

Hit Counter: Written by Ryan Terry Sammartino.
Counters: Written by Henn Saar.
WWW Page Access Counter: Written by Jeff Ford.
Web Count: Written by Joshua of Endless Visions.
WWW Homepage Access Counter: Written by Muhammad A. Muquit. Apparently he has ported his Unix version.
WebCom - Freeware CGI - Counter
- FrontPage 98 on a server with FrontPage 98 extensions: If you have both of these you can apparently use the digit strips to have a counter.

WWW Homepage Access Counter: Written by Muhammad A. Muquit. An excellent implementation by the contributor of the Tiny style.
WWW-page Access Counter: Written by Heini Withagen. Many counter writers trace their roots to this man.
NetTraveller's Access Counter: Written by Ibrahim Gokalp.
Access Counter: Written by Eric Kaplan.
W3CNT - a web access counter: A unique implementation (uses TCL) by Per Soderlind.
Shareware CGI's: Written by Chris Stevens. It is called Odometer.
Matt's Script Archive: Counter: Written by Matt Wright.
Byran's ODIE Web Counter: Written by Bryan Swann.
Page Counter for Apache Webserver: Written by Brian Kolaci. Modified by Dan Kogai.
The CGI Palace -- Counter: Written by Josh Guilfoyle.

Shareware CGI's: Written by Chris Stevens. It is called VMS Counter CGI.

WWW Homepage Access Counter: Written by Muhammad A. Muquit. Apparently he has ported his Unix version.
WWWCOUNT: A Graphical and Textual Hit Counter for OS/2: Written by Daniel Hellerstein.

CGI COUNTER: Written by inomoto.
Pagestats: Counter/Stats program: Written by Dale McNeill.
CADCount: Written by Philippe Cadic.

Live Counter: by Chami. Be sure to check out his Plug and Play version, as well.
Text to Graphic Number Converter: Written by Tomas Björklund. This is not strictly speaking a counter. It converts text numbers to graphics. The ideal use is in conjunction with a text counter, perhaps SSI.

Digital Page Counter & Digital Page Counter II: Written by Mister Moon. Requires MIVA.

Domino Counter: From Rhizomatics.

Webcount: Implemented using my counter software, but administered by Mike deCock.
The Web-Counter: Maintained by Gray Watson.
Brian's Public Access Counter Script Listing: Written by Brian Pollack.

Jinko's Counter Service: 200+ styles.
CountMan: About 14 styles available.
Page Count: Free graphical counter.
JCount: Done with Java.
W3stats
HVBcount3: Also HVBcount2b which is free.
Aaddzz - Free Counters
NedStat: Free personal counter.
Web Right Services: Totally Free with lots of styles.
NetHit: Free for non-commercial websites (in Dutch).
Site-Stats: Has an Ad Banner attached, but seems to do the trick.
BeSeen.com: Free with no registration required.
UAEone Free Counter: Free, but you have to put their logo on the same page.
FastCounter: Supposedly, very fast.
TheCounter.com: Uh, another one.
Internet Tool Zone: Funny thing, the underlying code for this counter is actually my code, which I licensed to Urbanite.
Better Counter: Free, but with upgrades for money. They also have some links to actually purchase CGI/Java solution.
Hitmeter, Inc.: For the Hit that counts...
TenZero Interactive Web Tools: They offer counters and lots of other things.
